Chase Path to Credit
Mobile App
With the Chase Starter team and inter-LOBs, I designed two end-to-end concepts to guide Starters (18-24 year olds) into the journey of getting their first credit card: an agentic assistant and a pathway to credit.
The concepts aim to grow Chase’s market share for Starters from 17% to 25%, bringing in 1M+ more users. The final prototypes were presented to 40+ leaders at Chase and projected to launch in early 2027.
Coming back to Chase
As a returning Product Design Intern, I was placed on the Starters team within Design & Strategy to see what it’s like to work in a real team at Chase. My project was focused on creating a path to credit for Starters, who are young adults ages 18-24 years old. Working alongside the Starters team and stakeholders across 3 LOBs, I delivered two finalized concepts including an agentic system and a curated credit pathway to help Chase achieve their business goal of reaching over 8 million Starters by 2030.
During this design process, I utilized tools like CoPilot, LLM Suite, Github, and Figma Make to learn how AI is changing designers’ workflows.
What did I do?
Although specific details are protected under NDA, I am excited to share some outcomes from my 10-week project! I was able to observe user testing interviews with Starters, make rapid iterations on concepts, and collaborate with many talented designers from my team.
On top of my 10-week project, I also participated on an AI challenge to help the International Medical Corps increase donation conversion, competing against 3,200 interns globally across JPMorganChase. Amongst them, my team came forward as one of 12 teams that advanced to the final round.
See the team behind Starters
A big thank you to my design managers Jerry and Jian, design lead Neda, and content designer Patrick, who I was able to work so closely with throughout my design process and who made Chase feel like home ♡
Growing as a Designer
Working on a cross-collaborative team for a project with high impact and real stakes made me realize just how meticulous the design process really is, allowing me to improve not only my design skills but also my ability to interact across audiences.
Working across 3 LOBs
During my project, I had weekly meetings with research, product, and design stakeholders across 3 lines of businesses. This taught me how to communicate my designs to different audiences and how I needed to back up every design decision with research to gain stakeholder’s trust.
Non-linear Design
Compared to the normal double diamond design process, this project was constantly switching back and forth from discovery, concepting, to testing and then back to discovery. This taught me how to be adaptable to all kinds of changes and allowed me to iterate very quickly when exploring new concepts.
Closing wrap up!
Due to NDA, I am unable to share more details about my project. Please reach out if you would like to learn more about my experiences at Chase!
